The project aMute occupies the boundaries between post-rock and experimental electronic music and Jérome will confirm this statement in Prague by performing with a guitar and a laptop. Recently he released his first regular album entitled A Hundred Dry Trees on the already well-established Canadian imprint Intr_Version containing eight emotionally strong compositions. aMute builds above all on his delicate guitar-work, which here and there recalls the quieter moments of groups like Mogwai, Tarentel or the Czech band Some Other Place. However, Jérome enriches these guitar melodies by a wide range of electronic sounds and effects (often the so-called glitches) and the guitar strings are therefore frequently subject to modern software processing in order to achieve maximum effect. aMute thus works with similar know-how as artists like e.g. Christian Fennesz or Tim Hecker and people coming to his Prague show may look forward to very rarely heard sounds shrouded by a bemused melancholic atmosphere.

Jérome Deuson was born in Boussu in Southern Belgium but now lives in Brussels. After becoming enchanted by the work of Chicago‘s Tortoise he formed a band called A4, which unfortunately split after several gigs. Since 2002 he works on his own project aMute and his first album A Hundred Dry Trees met a very positive response in world music media.
